TYSON FURY PROMISES TO KNOCK OUT FRANCIS NGANNOU ‘INSIDE SIX ROUNDS’ – ‘NO ONE CAN TAKE MY POWER’
Tyson Fury may be heavy favourite for the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ contest with Francis Ngannou – a fight which will be shown live on TNT Sports Box Office on Saturday, October 28 – but the Brit insists he is not taking his opponent lightly. However, ‘The Gypsy King’ has promised to knock out the former UFC heavyweight title holder “within six rounds”.Tyson Fury has promised to end the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ contest with Francis Ngannou “inside six rounds” as he sent a warning to his rivals that “no one can take my power”.
The WBC heavyweight champion will fight the former UFC heavyweight title holder on October 28, live on TNT Sports Box Office, in what is being billed as the biggest crossover fight since Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather went toe-to-toe in 2017.
Earlier this week, the two men came together for a frank and open discussion with Carl Frampton for the special show ‘The Face-Off’, to be shown on TNT Sports at 7pm on Friday, October 20.
And while Fury – who is heavy favourite – gave Ngannou credit for taking the fight, he guaranteed to seal victory in rapid fashion.
“I’m going to knock him out inside six rounds,” Fury said. “I’ll get on the front foot, high arm, catch him with a punishing jab, 19/20 stone in the face. Bust him up, swell his eyes out and bang, KO. On the front foot, not running away.
“No one can take my power, nobody. These heavyweights don’t have a chance.”
Fury – who has stopped his last four opponents including Deontay Wilder twice – is aware of Ngannou’s reputation of having a powerful punch but insists that has not crossed his mind. He has previously said losing to Ngannou would be like Manchester United losing 7-0 to Liverpool.
“People say that Deontay Wilder was the biggest puncher in heavyweight boxing but I beat him, I knocked him out so I take that crown,” said Fury.
He added: “I don’t get concerned over a man’s ability because that’s his God-given talent, he’s strong and can punch hard and knock people out – that’s what he does.
“But all of these guys can punch hard. If you let a heavyweight punch you in the face, it’s a knock out.
“So it’s up to me not to let that happen. If he lands a punch on me, great. If he doesn’t, then he doesn’t. But my chin is not like a piece of paper. You’ll find out that I’m very tough. That’s the reason I’ve had 34 fights unbeaten in 15 years.”
Nevertheless, Fury is treating the fight with the utmost seriousness and has prepared thoroughly for a man he has huge respect for.
“I think he’s a big man, strong, very game. There were a lot of boxers that were offered the chance to fight me and they said no,” said Fury.
“However, Francis stepped up to the plate and now he’s challenging the millennial heavyweight champion and WBC king, so hats off to Francis. This man can achieve anything he wants to.
“This is why I’m putting in a 12-week training camp instead of what I normally do for like Wilder or White or Chisora.
“I’m giving Francis 100% focus. And because he’s not a boxer, and he’s coming from a different background, I have to prepare more.
“With his awkward style, it might come from different directions so I have to be prepared for that and that’s why I’m training as hard as I can and giving him 100% respect.”
